Grand Blanc Charter Township is a unit of government for more than 25,000 people who reside in southeast Genesee County just a few miles south of Flint, Michigan. The township encompasses 36 square miles which surrounds the City of Grand Blanc. The city and township have a combined population of about 35,000 people. Township administrative offices are located at 5371 S. Saginaw Street and mail is sent to P. O. Box 1833, Grand Blanc, MI 48480. Phone contact can be made at (810) 424-2600.

Township Government business is conducted by an elected seven person Board of Trustees including a supervisor, clerk, treasurer, and four trustees. Business meetings are open to the public and are typically held at 7:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month with special meetings scheduled as needed.

Grand Blanc, which literally means "great white," was originally settled by Chippewa Indians. The name came from the French traders who arrived before 1800. By 1823 pioneer families were settling on the abundant farmland and Grand Blanc Township became, in 1833, Genesee County's first unit of government. The railroad, which came in 1862, added more growth to the small community. The Village of Grand Blanc was the first in the state to consolidate its schools in 1904.

A four square mile area in the center of the township was incorporated in 1930 as the City of Grand Blanc. Today the two units of government work cooperatively to provide services for the entire community. Grand Blanc residents enjoy such benefits as recreation activities, senior citizen services, McFarlen Public Library, Heritage Museum, and a highly rated school system.

Also available are medical centers, restaurants, and shopping. Grand Blanc is the home of the annual Buick Open Golf Tournament, the world headquarters for General Motors Service Parts Operations, and the award winning Genesys Regional Medical Center. Grand Blanc is said to be "Planned, Progressive, and Prestigious."
